In the historic heart of Tuscany, in the Chianti region of Siena, you will find the best part of what Tuscany can offer. The area surrounding Sienna offers an exceptional diversity of nature from the green hills and the luxuriant Chianti district to the pale, clay hills in the area of the Crete.

To the north you will find a land of impressive panoramas, green rolling hills, expansive areas of vineyards dotted with wineries, dark green olive groves, and small medieval hamlets scattered all around the area. This area is also known as the very famous Chianti Classico region, where some of the best red wine in Italy is produced.

The beautiful landscapes are marked by the characteristic cypresses set as windbreaks along the roads or in clusters by the farms.

To the south you will find a landscape of round clay hills, created over hundreds of years by the slow erosion of rainwater washing off the upper layers of soil. This is home to herds of sheep (and their shepherds) grazing the wild pasture which provides the famous Tuscan Pecorino cheese with its unique flavour. In Montalcino in the South you can taste one of Italy’s best-know and most expensive wines, Brunello di Montalcino, which is produced exclusively in the vineyards surrounding the town of Montalcino.
